Other poets studied include Matthew Arnold, Hood, Chesterton, Thomas Hardy, Rudyard Kipling, Houseman and the Pre-Raphaelites. Their connection with the Romantic Movement is also be emphasized. Attention is paid to the following:
- Socio-political and historical background to the poems;
- Factors that influenced the writings of these poets;
- Connection of the poets of this period with the poets before them—the Romantic poets and
- Theme, form / structure and language.
